As Per reports, India has by far largest number of
poor people world wide at 22.8 Crore followed by Nigeria at 9.6 Crore. Two
Third of these People lie in household in which at least on person is deprived
of Nutrition. There are also 9.7 crore poor children in India in 2019-2021-more
than the total number of poor people, children and adults combined, in any
other country governed by the Global Employee
According to Global Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index (MPI)
About 41.5 Crore people exited poverty in
India during the 15-Year Period between 2005-06 and 2019-21, out of Which 2/3rd
exited in the first 10 years, and 1/3rd in the next 05 years.
Many Concrete Steps have been taken by Central as well
as state governments which have led to significant reduction in Poverty.
Despite the strides made, report notes that ongoing task of ending poverty
remains daunting. The status of unemployment in the country is dismal too. We
need to create more and more jobs, promote small scale industries, infuse liquidity
and boost cottage industries to deal with this alarming situation. All these
steps including many more need to be taken to deal with poverty in the Country.
